The Story of Kakashi in the 3rd Great Ninja War

During the 3rd Great Ninja War, Hatake Kakashi was the captain and commanded two teammates, Obito and Rin, all three on a mission to destroy the Kannabi bridge built by Stone Village. In the process, Rin is kidnapped by a rival, Obito decides to go save Rin. Although Kakashi initially wanted to continue the mission alone for fear of making the same mistake as his father, he was later persuaded by Obito and realized that saving his comrades was the most important thing.

Kakashi was given the Sharingan by Obito

Also while saving Rin, Kakashi lost his left eye, and Obito was in critical condition after saving his best friend when a giant rock fell. Knowing he didn't have much left to live, Obito decided to give Kakashi's Sharingan eye as a belated graduation present.

The two survivors, Rin and Kakashi, were also promptly appeared by Minato and assisted in repelling the enemy. Since then, Kakashi has possessed the Sharingan eye, which gives him the powerful ninjutsu copying ability and Konoha's famous copy ninja nickname.
